I have been back from the Big Apple/City That Never Sleeps/Center of the Universe for a shamefully long time (two weeks) without any blog updates yet, so this post is long overdue. This was my first time visiting Manhattan with friends, so needless to say the entire trip was centered around shopping, eating, drinking, wandering, and of course a couple of parties. The above photo series was taken on our first full day in the city. We tried the much-raved-about Butcher's Daughter, which fully lived up to it's expectations with its bright, farmhouse-inspired decor and vegetarian fare and juices, before wandering around Nolita and finding our way into tiny boutiques filled with the most wonderfully unique clothing from emerging designers. We then made our way through the Flatiron district and over to Chelsea to have cocktails at the intimate yet ambient La Piscine poolside bar on the roof of the Americano Hotel... perfect for people watching on a hot Saturday afternoon. Following this, we were determined to hit MoMA PS1 for their Warm Up party where A/JUS/TED was playing. What's a trip to New York without accidentally getting completely lost on an express train? After we sorted out the mix-up (which took us just about to Jackson Heights) we made it to Warm Up for an amazing evening. Lavo in Midtown was our last stop of the night and it definitely did not disappoint (although I wish my memory was clearer by this point). I ended up wearing one of my favourite purchases of the summer so far, a white backless dress with a tiny embroidery pattern and cross-back spaghetti straps from Forever 21. This dainty dress begs for some toughening up, so I paired it with my favourite purchase of, hmm, probably my whole life so far, the Millenium boot by Kobe Husk in black croc embossed leather. These are without question the greatest boots I have ever owned. From the buckles that wrap around the ankle, to the open heel, to the perfect height, finish, and overall shape, I couldn't have asked for a better shoe to trek around New York in. They're on sale now here if you want in on the perfection.
